My journey through financial ruin to stability is not just a story; it’s a testament to resilience, determination, and the transformative power of self-belief. As a Black woman who has navigated the rough waters of personal finances and emerging stronger and wiser, I’ve turned my trials into a source of empowerment for others.

I understand the unique challenges faced by successful Black women who are overwhelmed by financial trauma because I’ve lived it. Having filed bankruptcy, TWICE, and rebuilding my life from scratch taught me some critical lessons, one being that to secure my financial future required not just hard work,

but also true healing from my financial traumas. It was a pivotal moment when I realized the necessity of developing and shifting my money mindset.

Once a divorced single mother who was labeled a loser, doubted and dismissed, I was of the mindset that it was not what I was called, it was what I was going to answer to. My dream was simple yet profound—to be a homeowner. Against all odds, on 9/9/2009, I did it! I became a first-time homeowner, securing the biggest house on the cul-de-sac with just $602 and some change at the closing table, less than $2K in out-of-pocket expenses, and a 2.25% interest rate. People are still asking, “How?”
